We know... putting it on is easy, but taking it off without damaging your natural nails is a different story!

There are two methods to remove Poly Nail Gels safely and without damaging your nail bed.

Equipment needed

Method 2
  • Glowtips Nail File
  • Nail Cutter
  • Acetone
  • Cotton Pads
  • Foil / Nail Clips
  • Nail Cutter
  • Glowtips Nail File

Method 1 : Filing Method

Step 1 : File Off the Top Coat

  • Using a 100 Grit File to file the Top Coat off your nails so they look matte.

Step 2 : Optional - Cut Length Off

  • If you prefer to keep the length, move on to step 3!

Step 3 : Continue to File

  • File until the majority of Poly Nail Gels are off.
  • Using a 180 Grit File to gently file the remaining Poly Nail Gel off.
  • Be careful not to file your natural nails.

Step 4 : Cleanse and Nourish

  • Use alcohol, nail cleanser or acetone to remove any remaining Poly Nail Gel.
  • Finally nourish your nails with cuticle oil.

Method 2 : Soaking Foil Method

If you do not want to risk filing your natural nails, we recommend this soaking foil method. Please note that Poly Nail Gel cannot be soaked off entirely, you would still have to file most of the gel off from your nails.

Step 1 : File Off the Top Coat

    • Using a 100 Grit File to file the Top Coat off your nails so they look matte.
    • Top coat prevents your Poly Nail Gels from melting, so this is essential!
    • Continue to file until the majority of Poly Nail Gels are off.

Step 2 : Optional - Cut Length Off

    • If you prefer to keep the length, move on to step 3!

Step 3 : Soak Cotton Pad with Acetone

      • If there are stubborn bits of Poly Nail Gel, soak your cotton pad with acetone, place over your nail completely and wrap foil to contain heat and prevent the cotton pad from drying up quickly.
      • Wait about 10-15 minutes.

Step 4 : Prepare Your Cotton Pads and Foil

      • Cut cotton pads and foils into sizes that will cover your whole nail.
      • If you have Nail Clips for the removal Gels or Poly Nail Gels, you can use this instead of foil.

Step 5 : Scrape and/or File the Poly Nail Gel

      • Check on your nails by removing the cotton pad, scrape the lifted Poly Nail Gel using a metal cuticle pusher or wooden cuticle pusher.
      • If there are stubborn bits of Poly Nail Gel:
        • Gently file the Poly Nail Gel off your natural nails until fully gone, or
        • Soak a cotton pad and wait for it to lift again.
      • Be careful not to file your natural nails.

Step 6 : Cleanse and Nourish

      • Use alcohol, nail cleanser or acetone to remove any remaining Poly Nail Gel.
      • Finally nourish your nails with cuticle oil.
